Newcastle drop new injury hint – Good and (potentially) bad news ahead of Burnley?

Newcastle United have released pictures of the team in training this afternoon, signalling some good and not-so-good injury news ahead of Saturday’s trip to Burnley.

The good news is that Miguel Almiron has returned to training after overcoming a knee injury that’s kept him out of our last five league games.

Howe hinted last week that he could be back in contention for our trip to Turf Moor and that appears to be the case. However, there’s no sign of Fabian Schar in any of the 27 photos released on the club’s official website.

Schar was forced off at half time in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Sheffield United after feeling some discomfort in his hamstring. It may be that he’s OK and simply being given some time to fully recover ahead of this weekend’s game, but that is a slight concern while we wait to hear more from Howe on Friday.

Elsewhere, Kieran Trippier confirmed he will be “back really soon” in a training post from Dubai yesterday. He will miss out this weekend, but it’s hoped he – like Joelinton – may return for next week’s clash with Brighton at St James’ Park.
