Fabrizio Romano: Newcastle facing competition from Chelsea to sign summer target

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have joined Newcastle in the race to sign soon-to-be free agent Tosin Adarabioyo.

He reports that Newcastle United are one of ‘several clubs’ chasing the Fulham centre-back, but reveals that the Blues are also being kept informed on the player’s future.

Romano adds that the 26-year-old is yet to receive a ‘formal proposal’ as of yet, with interested parties keen to discuss his wage demands and the agent fees involved to sign the 6ft 5′ defender on a ‘free’.

Earlier this week, reports suggested we were ‘closing in’ on a deal, with one claiming we’d offered the former Man City talent a contract worth £100,000-per-week. This appears to be premature, with Romano insisting that Tosin will ‘take his time’ to decide his next step after deciding against signing a new deal at Craven Cottage.

Adarabioyo would be a shrewd signing – he’s tall, mobile, confident on the ball and has plenty of Premier League experience – but it seems we’ll face competition. Man Utd, Spurs and West Ham have also been credited with an interest, with Keith Downie also revealing that AC Milan were keen earlier this week.

  1. If true then the lad joins Chelsea. He could stay living where he does right now but instead of turning left for Fulham, he’d turn right for Chelsea.

I’d be amazed if he uprooted to move to the other side of the Country
