One 9/10, two 8s and one worrying 4 - NUFC player ratings vs West Ham

Saturday produced a great game for the neutral. St James' Park is delivering a lot of entertainment this season, but unfortunately for us, it is often a tough watch as a fan. There is no doubting the hunger within the squad to deliver results, but there are still issues plaguing our performances.
We managed to fight back from 1-3 down yet again, but this time, we went one better and got the winning goal. After so many suffered injuries and Anthony Gordon got sent off, we will have a patched up squad for Tuesday. However, we got the three points and we live to fight another day. Below we rate the performance of each player.
Martin Dubravka - 4 - It was another poor performance from the goalkeeper. He is currently the biggest issue we have, as the defenders have no confidence in him and it is impacting us across the pitch. The first two goals both showed the lack of confidence in his own game and we will keep conceding goals until Nick Pope is back.
Tino Livramento - 5 - It was an okay display from the full-back. There were a couple of nice defensive contributions including one very good challenge on Jarrod Bowen, but he went off with another injury. Hopefully it isn't a serious one.
Jamaal Lascelles - N/A - The captain went off with a knee injury early in the game. The defence fell apart in the minutes following his departure. It was a massive blow.
Fabian Schar - 5 - There have been better games from Schar. Although the second West Ham goal was controversial as Schar was down with a 'head injury', it was quite clear that it wasn't a serious issue. Michail Antonio bullied him until he went off the pitch and the centre back will want to move on from this one.
Dan Burn - 5.5 - There will continue to be criticism directed at Dan Burn. He was better when he came inside to play centre back and hopefully he will stay there for the next few matches. In the first half, he made one very good challenge to deny Kudus when he was going in on goal. Burn wasn't great, but he wasn't bad either.
Bruno Guimaraes - 7 - It is obvious that he is playing with the hand break on due to his yellow card situation. However, Bruno did contribute on Saturday and he did a lot to shut down Lucas Paqueta, especially in the second half. As his compatriot did have an impact on the game, it wasn't a perfect display, but he did play his part.
Sean Longstaff - 5.5 - The second half scuffed effort will want to be forgotten, as it did show a lack of technical ability in the final third. Longstaff worked hard and his energy helped us in the latter part of the game. However, he still isn't playing to the same level he showed last season.
Joe WIllock - 5 - The midfielder is still lacking match fitness and it showed in the first half. In a few more weeks, Willock would have been more active without the ball and could have been the one to shut down Paqueta in the build up to the first goal. The best is still to come from him this season.
Jacob Murphy - 6 - He did continue to offer a threat down the right wing and he showed an impressive ability to shift back to right back in the second half. His final ball could be better at times, but he was unlucky not to get an assist for Anthony Gordon in the first half.
Alexander Isak - 8.5 - This was much better from the striker. He is getting back to his best as he builds up confidence in his body. Isak took both penalties well, but it was his assist for the equaliser that was his starring moment. It was an excellent piece of skill and showed the class that he possesses.
Anthony Gordon - 8 - He is playing with so much confidence at the moment and he will be a miss on Tuesday when he is suspended. I have taken off a point as his second yellow card was silly, but he played a part in three of the goals and had a huge impact throughout.
SUBS:
Emil Krafth - 4 - This was a cameo to forget for Krafth. He is usually reliable, but he didn't look comfortable all afternoon and Howe was right to sub him in the second half.
Miguel Almiron - N/A - He looked lively until he injured himself.
Lewis Hall - 7.5 - This was much better from Lewis Hall. He is growing into his role and looks ready for more minutes. On the ball, he has a level of class that others don't. We need to see him more in the coming weeks.
Harvey Barnes - 9 - Injuries have been frustrating for Harvey Barnes this season. It has led to some questioning his signing. but he showed why the club wanted him on Saturday. Both his goals were excellent and showed the level of ability he has when it comes to scoring. Hopefully, we see a lot more of him over the rest of the season.
Elliot Anderson - 7 - He looked to be positive on the ball and added some dynamism in midfield. Helped change the game.
