Game on! Kansas City v Newcastle.
This will be one for you nightcrawlers as I'm off to bed shortly, but I also want the chance to be able to catch up on how Newcastle have done in the first match of their US tour when I wake up.
Hence the reason for this article. It's late in the UK so it may not be busy, or it may work out well. Quite simply I don't know, but there is no harm in trying is there? What I'm hoping for is that you guys that will be in the loop can keep us guys who aren't in the loop up to speed with the match.
It may take some odd ways and means of doing it as no TV coverage is scheduled for the match, but you never know, a stream or some radio or some text commentary or anything may pop up and give you the chance of chatting about the match this evening/this morning/this afternoon/whatever.
As mentioned earlier, out of action are Joey Barton, Yohan Cabaye, Nile Ranger, Mike Williamson, Shane Ferguson, Danny Guthrie, Wayne Routledge and Xisco for varying reasons so we should get a decent look at some of the younger players in the squad, particularly Mehdi Abeid who has apparently done nothing but impress since his arrival and is now being looked at with a view to being used in the first team.
Hopefully the match will give us another good run out, but most importantly I'd like to hope that we don't pick up any more injuries. We'll have enough of them to deal with throughout the season no doubt so it's best that they are avoided right now!
Searing temperatures of 100ºF are expected at LiveStrong Park so fatigue will be a problem for our boys. I think it's safe to say that we'll see a few substitutions throughout the game. Meanwhile Kansas are in the middle of the MLS season so they should be much fitter and will of course be more acclimatised to the weather.
Let's see how it pans out eh? I'd predict a score but, with the greatest of respects, I don't have a clue about Sporting Kansas City so wouldn't even know where to start! Naturally if you guys can find any, and I mean any, forms of broadcast then please feel free to share them with the rest of your fellow Newcastle fans.
As for me, I've worked for 14 hours, it's late, I'm at work again tomorrow, and I'm off to bed. I hope you have fun and I expect to see plenty of comments and banter from you guys who are up and about at this time of day.
Howay the lads!
