Barton to stay despite cruel intentions from Ashley and Co.
Well life is never dull for a Newcastle fan, with the news about Joey Barton being transfer listed and available for a fee of nothing being yet another fine example of that.
Whether you agree with Barton and his Twitter antics or not is secondary as it appears that the club have reacted angrily to his outbursts. All I know is that if I slagged off my employers to hundreds of thousands of people I wouldn't have a job to go back to, and I guess that would be the case for many of us if you actually look at your contract.
However it's a sledge hammer approach to something that just needed a small tap with tack hammer to sort out. What is wrong with sitting down and sorting things out these days? It just doesn't happen and once again it's the fans who are left to pick up the pieces.
I'm pretty sure that ALL of you will back me up when I say this, but in the unlikely event of any players actually reading this please bear in mind that we - the fans - are completely and utterly still behind you and will support you as we always do.
We need to stick together and we need to support them as they are getting crapped on by above just like us. I would imagine that Alan Pardew has been crapped on in much the same way. they've done it to Shearer, Keegan, Hughton so why wouldn't they do it the current incumbent?
It's a mighty clash of ego's that has caused it with nobody willing to back down. I note that Joey Barton has insisted that he is staying at Newcastle and has talked about the pride and honour of wearing the black and white on Twitter. If that is to be the case I hope he remains professional and doesn't casuse any bother.
Quite what the wisdom of letting the Player of the Season from last season go on a free transfer is has been lost on me. Yes I would have preferred Barton to keep his comments in house, but at the end if the day surely a twitter ban would have done just that?
I just can't help but think that Ashley and Llambias have been itching to get Barton out of Newcastle for some time now, and I think it stems back to the time when they were about to sack him only for Kevin Keegan to step in and save him. Ever since then I think they've wanted his sizeable wages off the book, which is strange considering that Barton has just about started repaying some of the faith shown in him by the club.
It smacks of an egotistical move by the board. Why else effectively give him away? Especially considering we have an owner who watches every single penny! Great business...
I'm really disappointed and disillusioned with this. Once again we are reduced to a laughing stock by this ownership and his twat of a Poodle, Delboy. My only hope is that this doesn't evolve into an all-out revolt by the players who will be feeling much the same as I am I'd imagine - disillusioned.
What a summer eh?
