An open letter to our players

Time for the players to man up and remember what real sacrifice is. An open letter to our players.
So today it's confirmed John Carver remains your coach, like it or not that is your reality, as it is ours. Whether you like him or not, his love for our club cannot be denied but fans are questioning whether your commitment is as strong. Too many of you surrendered over the last few games and let the club you represent and the fans and city down. It matters not if you dislike your boss or his methods, quite simply you are paid well to perform for 90 plus minutes, it's not much to ask. Doubtless many of you fancy a transfer to a ' bigger' club some day in the future, maybe it's even been promised? Well you best ask yourselves this. Have I shown I have what it takes?, do I possess team spirit?, am I a team player? have I given my all? If you can't say yes to all of that, then take a long hard look in the mirror and think about two lads that really did have passion and gave their all for the club. All season we have been remembering Liam Sweeney and John Alder at the 17th minute of every game, these lads lived and died for the club. They chose to travel thousands of miles every season to follow the club and support players like you. This pre-season they paid the ultimate price when the plane they took to go watch you play was shot down on route. How dreadfully sad it will be if a season that started so incredibly traumatically ends in relegation for want of a bit of fight and endeavour. Put simply, if you cannot give your all and fight for the fifty odd thousand fans that turn up at St James Park then do it for Liam and John out of respect for all the support they gave to you.
