5 Players Who Could Join Newcastle This January
Happy New Year Magpies fans! Here's a list of 5 players who could join Newcastle in the January transfer window.
5. Scott Hogan
The Brentford hitman has been in fine form this season and may be looking for a big move to further his career. Hogan would be a very impressive replacement, if Dwight Gayle was to get an injury or suspension.
Like Gayle, Hogan plays on the shoulder of the last defender and relies on lapses of concentration and clever play from the creative players in his side to provide him with chances.
When he does get chances though, he is usually clinical. Rafa could provide Hogan with the chance of a big move.

4. Conor Hourihane
In the absence of Jonjo Shelvey, what many fans have discussed is whether or not Newcastle lack creativity from midfield.
Hourihane would be ideal to provide that, if Rafa does think we are lacking in that position.
He has had a great season in the Championship, with his side Barnsley and is out of contract in the summer, meaning that he may even be available for a very reasonable price.

3. Fabian Delph
Like Hourihane, Fabian Delph would offer Newcastle real creativity from midfield.
However, unlike Hourihane, Delph has not been in fine form this season. In fact, he hasn't really played regularly enough to get any form, good or bad, since his move to Manchester City.
Delph does though, have real quality. You don't represent England and Manchester City if you don't.
He is mobile and technically sound. He could add legs to the Newcastle midfield but he could also add to the side's creativity, something that every team needs.

2. Robert Snodgrass
Snodgrass has recently been called out about his lack of defensive capabilities, with some saying that he is becoming something of a hindrance at Hull City, who look destined for relegation.
However, it is clear now that Rafa Benitez likes to play with two holding midfield players, meaning that Snodgrass may well get away with not tracking back as much, as he will always have plenty of cover.
In the Championship, Snodgrass should have far too much ability to be caught out and with Christian Atsu away for the African Cup of Nations, Hull struggling in the Premier League and Snodgrass being out of contract in the summer, a move could well be a possibility.

1. Tom Cleverley

It has been reported that Newcastle have expressed an interest in taking Cleverley on loan.
The link itself has been met with mixed reactions, with some fans clearly hoping that the pull of Rafa Benitez, and a full St James' Park, could tempt slightly better players than Cleverley.
Others however, feel that a move for an England international, with plenty of top level experience, would be a great addition to the Newcastle squad.
Cleverley has superb talent, he links up play really well and is comfortable receiving the ball in any situation. If this move did happen, it would be a great deal for both parties.
