According to The Chronicle, Rafa Benitez is now set to step up his hunt for a new striker this summer.
This is music to the ear of us Newcastle fans - with the club crying out for some additional firepower up top - however it is vital that we set our standards high and pay up to bring in a player who'll add the necessary quality and goals that we currently lack.

1. Kelechi Iheanacho
Leicester City are closing in on a £25m deal to sign the Nigerian, however we would urge Newcastle to make a late move for the Manchester City striker. At just 20-years old has already has made a habit of scoring goals whenever he’s been given a chance at City and looks a top prospect.

2. Wilfried Bony
Newcastle showed interest in the Ivory Coast striker during his time at Vitesse in Holland, however Swansea beat us to his signature in the summer of 2013. Bony has been made available by Pepe Guardiola this summer after a disappointing spell at Manchester City, however the powerful forward would be an ideal addition if he could rediscover his Swansea form, where he bagged 35 goals in 70 games from 2013-2015.

3. Moussa Dembele
The French forward has just enjoyed sensational season in Scotland and Sky Sports claimed yesterday that Celtic will listen to offers in the region of £20m - a fee that may fall in our price bracket this summer? After 17 goals in the Championship with Fulham in 2015/16 and 32 goals in 48 appearances for Celtic last season, his career has gone from strength over the past two years and he looks a player more than capable of making the Premier League step up.

4. Daniel Sturridge
Reports suggest that Jurgen Klopp is ready to let the 27-year-old striker leave Anfield this summer. Benitez is believed to be a fan and could work his magic with his former club to give the England International a new lease of life on Tyneside. His injury problems are a concern, so this one would be an expensive risk, but a risk well worth taking IF he could stay fit.

5. Michy Batshuayi (Loan)
Benitez is scouring the Premier League’s top six for potential loan deals this summer and Batshuayi could be a genuine option after the £60m arrival of Alvaro Morata at Chelsea.
