Scenes at the Stadium of Light as former NUFC favourite scores late winner against Sunderland

by Olly Hawkins · 12 September 2017, 23:01

Just as you think Sunderland's season couldn't get any worse - with Simon Grayson's side sitting 20th in the Championship - it did last night, with their latest defeat coming quite brilliantly at the hands of former NUFC striker Daryl Murphy, whose 86th minute strike saw Nottingham Forest to a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light.

The 34-year old secured a move to Nottingham Forest this summer, but it appears his legacy is continuing with Newcastle United after scoring a dramatic late winner against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last night!

Murphy spent 5 seasons on Wearside from 2005-2010, however has been known more recently for his stint on Tyneside, having became quite a popular figure at St. James' Park during our promotion season last year.

Another sickening blow for the Mackems - who are still without a home win in 2017 -  but yet another comical moment for us to enjoy - and that we did:
