Arsenal fans left impressed by NUFC star following Saturday's 1-0 defeat - some want to sign him!
Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to admit just how impressed they were by Newcastle midfielder Mikel Merino during Saturday's game at the Emirates - with some even suggesting they'd like to see him join the North London side.
It may have been another defeat - our eighth in our last 9 - however it was a much improved display. It was a dogged display and Spanish maestro Mikel Merino was back to his best.
He was combative, composed and clever on the ball, and was perhaps the most impressive midfielder on the pitch that day.

I must say, he really was superb. The best performer in black and white in an improved all round display from the side.
He's been rusty since returning from injury, but this was the real Mikel Merino. He broke up the play, drew several fouls, took players on and got his head up to try and drive us forward. He has the confidence and composure our midfield often lacks, but is by no means a luxury player, fighting for every ball and running himself into the ground.
No wonder Arsenal fans have been left impressed.
