Aleksandar Mitrovic sends shock 'threat' to NUFC after club sets huge asking price - Exclusive

According to an exclusive from TEAMtalk, Newcastle have slapped a £30m price tag on Aleksandar Mitrovic's head following his form at the World Cup - claiming the Serbian has threatened not to play for NUFC again if it ends up pricing him out of a move to Fulham.

It remains to be seen if there's any truth in this one, but these are some big claims - and some pretty shocking ones if true.

Not only does it seem excessive for us to demand £30m for a player who is yet to prove himself at Premier League level (Dwight Gayle scored goals for fun in the Championship remember), but it would also be poor from Mitrovic to demand a move when he is still under contract at St James' Park.

Here's a snippet from TEAMtalk's piece today:

'Aleksandar Mitrovic has told Newcastle that he does not want to play for them again, and is insisting they agree a deal with Fulham, we can reveal.

'Newcastle have since demanded £30million, more than double what they paid Anderlecht for the 23-year-old in 2015.

'But Mitrovic has made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that he wants a move to Fulham, and if they price him out of a switch – he reportedly won’t play for them.

'For their part, Fulham are keen on striking a deal for the forward but are not willing to go above £20million.'

If it's true that Fulham won't go above £20m then it looks like this one could be about to get a little bit awkward.

Let's hope that some middle ground can be found here. I'm not sure he's worth £30m, but I would also argue that £20m isn't enough for a player of his age, potential and current form.

£25m and we've got a deal? For everyone's sake, I hope this is sorted ASAP.
