Ex-NUFC striker facing one-year ban from football after failing drugs test
Former Newcastle United and Man Utd striker Giuseppe Rossi could be facing yet another major setback in his career, with the Italian facing a one-year ban after testing positive for a banned substance.
The 31-year old was loaned to Newcastle in the summer of 2006, scoring just one goal in 13 appearances before returning to Manchester United.
He went on to have successful spell with Villarreal, scoring over 80 times in just shy of 200 appearances for the La Liga side, however his career has been blighted by injuries ever since - and it might be about to get worse for him
He's currently without a club after being released by Genoa in the summer, and he could be facing another year out of the game.
Italy's anti-doping agency 'Nado Italia' announced earlier this week that Rossi will not stand trial next week after testing positive for an 'eye drug that can be used as a masking agent'.
