Exclusive claims Leeds are now 'in talks' to sign NUFC outcast
According to an exclusive from Football Insider, Leeds United are now in pole position to sign Karl Darlow after holding talks with his representatives over a potential January deal.
This is not the first time Leeds have been linked with a move for a Newcastle goalkeeper, with a loan deal for Woodman mentioned last week, however it now sounds like they're pursuing a permanent deal for Darlow.
Leeds are currently in the middle of a goalkeeper crisis - with two senior keepers injured - and they appear to be very keen on Darlow, who has real Championship pedigree after being our number one for the majority of our promotion season in 2016/17.
Aston Villa are also thought to be interested , but Leeds seem to have the edge according to the latest reports.
Darlow has done a decent job for us, but has lost his place to Martin Dubravka recently and doesn't look likely to get that number 1 jersey back any time soon.
This move really could suit both parties - although it wouldn't surprise me if Rafa wants a replacement signed before he'll sanction any deal, with Woodman likely to leave on loan and Elliot linked with a January exit too.
