According to reports in Germany, Kevin Mbabu is edging closer to a move to Bundesliga side Schalke - with Young Boys looking so sell for €15m (£13.5m).
Considering it was recently revealed that we received just £106,000 when sanctioning his return to Switzerland in the summer of 2017, this really it looking like more and more of a big mistake from Benitez.
It's been reported in Germany that Schalke are yet to meet Young Boys' £13.5m asking price - offering £9m so far - however there's new claims that they could sign him on loan this month with an obligation to buy him for a fee in the region of £13m in the summer.
It's easy to say that we made a mistake in hindsight, but Mbabu always looked the part when he got a rare chance in the team.
Yes he's excelled in a poor Swiss division, but he's not looked out of place in their Champions League campaign against the likes of Man Utd, Juventus and Valencia and he's now a regular in Switzerland's national side.
