Sky Sports host deletes tweet after posting controversial Steve Bruce claims – What a mess..
Sky Sports' Pete Graves has posted a controversial tweet attempting to defend the potential appointment of Steve Bruce - only to delete it 2 minutes later.
After it was confirmed an 'official approach' was incoming and that Bruce was Ashley's 'no.1' target Graves - a Geordie who presents on Sky Sports News - attempted to offer an 'alternate perspective' in reaction to the news - but it didn't go down well at all.
Here's what he said, with him deleting the tweet just moments later after receiving huge backlash from Newcastle fans:
"'If' Bruce gets job, fans should know Sir Bobby recommended him numerous time for job. He's also best friends with Shearer so could build bridges there?
"Fans anger should 100% NOT be aimed at Bruce (a NUFC fan) that's for sure.
"Don't hammer me, just an alternate opinion"
Sir Bobby may have recommended him at one stage, but that was before he became a Championship manager who happily took the Sunderland job a few years ago.
As for the Shearer link, why on earth would we want to 'build bridges' in this poisonous Mike Ashley era?
I do understand and agree that anger from fans should not be aimed solely at Bruce and instead Mike Ashley, however it's hard to get away from the fact he must be coming in on a 'yes man' basis if he's happy to work under this pitiful regime.
