Salomon Rondon closes in on West Brom exit as new club prepares for £16.5m deal - Report
According to reports in China, Rafa Benitez's Dalian Yifang are now preparing for the arrival of former Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon.
This comes from Beijing-based outlet Titan Sports, who claim that Chinese Super League side will release Nyasha Mushekwi - with his exit set to free up a 'foreign-player spot' and allow for Rondon's arrival.
Sky Sports confirmed Rafa Benitez's interest in Rondon over the weekend, and although it was reported on Sunday night that the deal had 'hit a snag', it looks like it's back on.
Wolves, West Ham, Marseille, Fenerbahce and ourselves have all been heavily linked with the Venezuela - who's future was put on hold after his involvement in this summer's Copa America - however it looks like Rafa is finally going to get his man.
If only Mike Ashley had compromised during 'talks' with Rafa and agreed to pay Rondon's £16.5m release clause.
A month or two later and not only have we lost both and top scorer Ayoze Perez, we're now set to appoint Championship manager Steve Bruce - a sad reflection of the direction we're heading in for as long as Mike Ashley remains.
