Club 'on the verge' of UAE takeover & Bruno Genesio set to be appointed - Le Progres

by Olly Hawkins ·

According to some shock new claims from France, former Lyon manager Bruno Genesio is about to sign a four-year contract to become the new Newcastle United manager.

This comes from Le Progrès (a local paper in Lyon), whose 'breaking news' claims that the Frenchman is currently in England for talks over a four-year-deal that would see him become the new Newcastle United boss:

To add even more fuel to the fire, the French outlet also claims that the club is 'on the verge' of being sold to Dubai billionaire - a line that makes this story all the more unbelievable if you ask me.

Given Steve Bruce's arrival had been described as 'imminent' over the last 48 hours and a takeover had allegedly 'stalled', it's fair to say these new reports from France should be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

Genesio - who left his job at Lyon at the end of the season - has been linked with the Newcastle job over the past 12 months, however this is a serious case of time will tell.

We live in hope, but I'm fully expecting these claims to be shot down and Steve Bruce to be appointed!
