Pictures of 'new-look' St James’ Park emerge after Mike Ashley 'makeover'

by Olly Hawkins ·

A new picture has emerged on social media showing the new paintwork and signs added to the Milburn/Gallowgate corner of St James' Park.

This comes just a few days on from photos showing the new players entrance in the concourse and, while both may look slick and modern, it only paints over the cracks that have only got bigger at St James' Park this summer.

Here's the pictures, captured by passing Newcastle fans over the last few days:

Does it look good? Yes. But it's a cheap way to modernise a stadium that's been in need of some much needed TLC for some time now.

Maybe I should give the club a pat on the back here, but it's all fun and games until we find out these pots of black paint will take a couple of quid out of Steve Bruce's summer budget!

All jokes aside, the following Rafa Benitez comments now seem all the more relevant:

"I was talking to the architect about changing a few things. And, after three years, they painted the walls."

Let's hope they get cracking with the rest of the stadium - although that may compromise the amount available to spend on new players if I know Mike Ashley!
