NUFC reporters drool over Joelinton after impressive display vs Hibernian - A must-read

by Olly Hawkins ·

Newcastle United reporters have been full of praise for £40m man Joelinton following our 3-1 win over Hibernian last night - praising his well taken goal AND impressive all round performance.

His first appearance was mixed, with him winning a penalty just a few seconds after being on the pitch at Preston, only to then give one away at the other end moments later, however he was outstanding last night.

Not only did he score - a goal he took very well with a clever left-footed finish - his general play, awareness, power, pace and trickery was praised by various Newcastle United reporters watching on at Easter Road:

John Anderson (BBC Radio Newcastle)

“Joelinton’s been brilliant, with his goal and his all-round play. His hold up play and his awareness has been brilliant. It's been first class."

Craig Hope (Daily Mail):

"Joelinton has been very good. His first touch is excellent, manipulates the ball & moves it into space rather than killing dead. Once he's got it they can't get it off him either."

Miles Starforth (Shields Gazette)

"Very good half from Joelinton. He's scored, linked well and been a physical presence up front."

Lee Ryder (Chronicle)

"Looked lively and took his goal well. Will do well providing he gets service like this. Showed some great touches" (Player rating - 8).

Paul Fraser (Northern Echo)

"A moment of brilliance from Joelinton there. A little flick got him beyond his first man, then he charged and turned in the box. Ended up floored after a challenge, no pen. He looks decent this £40m fella here."

Great to hear!

The Brazilian received a standing ovation from the Toon Army as he left the field with 20 minutes left on the clock and rightly so.

Let's hope this is just the start.
