NUFC's unsung hero reveals what his teammates are saying after talk of £340m takeover
Ciaran Clark has become the first Newcastle player to address the lingering takeover talk on Tyneside, insisting the squad are all taking it with a 'pinch of salt.
That said, the defender admits the players are all aware of what's being reported in the press - suggesting talk of a £340m Saudi buyout is playing on their minds to an extent.
Here's what the Irish international has told the Chronicle when asked about the takeover rumours and the impact the latest round of reports has had on the team:
"We've had this a couple of times now and we try to take it with a pinch of salt.
"We are aware of stuff being said.
"Nobody really focuses on it too much, we concentrate on games and training.
"We try to put that to the back of our minds really."
It's quite telling that even the players take it all with a pinch of salt - with Clark clearly aware this could be yet another false dawn.
Takeover talk has disrupted the side in recent years and contributed to a downturn in form over the pitch, but with us now 8-games unbeaten in all competitions, it's fair to say Bruce and co have dealt with it all very well this time around.
Here's hoping that trend continues ahead of our tough trip to the Emirates on Sunday!
