Ex-Mag contacted by Saudis over surprise return to Newcastle ahead of £300m takeover - Report
This morning, The Chronicle report that former Mag Nikos Dabizas has now been contacted by the would-be owners of Newcastle United over a potential return to St James' Park.
They report that this would be as a potential Director of Football or in an executive role - according to a 'source close the the player'.
Dabizas is currently the Director of Football at Greek giants Panathinaikos - where he's built up an impressive reputation in the role - and it's said he'd be 'delighted to return home' should he be offered the role ahead of a proposed £300m takeover.
Here's a snippet from The Chronicle's piece:
Contact has been made with Nikos Dabizas about a possible Director of Football or executive role in a new St James’ Park regime, according to sources close to the former Newcastle player.
Dabizas is Panathinaikos’s Director of Football but would be delighted to return “home” and would welcome any talks.
He retains representation in Newcastle through St James’ Square Sports Management and has previously talked to clubs in the Championship and SPL about opportunities.
This isn't the first time we've heard his name linked in recent weeks, but it's interesting to see The Chronicle now state that he's been contacted.
