'Exclusive' claims NUFC's Jacob Murphy is now in the middle of a 5-way transfer battle
Just 12 months ago, it felt like Newcastle were struggling to find takers for Jacob Murphy following a disappointing start to life at St James' Park and uninspiring loan spell at West Brom.
A year later, he's returned from a hugely successful season at Sheffield Wednesday - where he bagged 9 goals and 6 assists - and appears to be a man in demand.
This is according to TEAMtalk, who report in their latest 'exclusive' that Middlesbrough are the latest club to enquire about a potential loan deal after Steve Bruce indicated he'd be willing to hand him another season away from St James' Park.
It seems they may be just one of several Championship sides looking to sign him, however, with them stating that Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Derby and Stoke are all showing interest.
I had wondered if he'd be given a chance to impress over pre-season after ending the 2019/20 Championship season in stunning form, being involved in 8 goals in his final 8 appearances for the Owls, yet you can't help but wonder if the second tier is his level.
With Bruce's budget looking set to be very limited this summer, perhaps it's time we looked to pursue a permanent deal if there's so many clubs interested?
Who knows what's going on with our £10m man, but a big decision needs to be made on his future one way or another this summer.
