Newcastle hoping to sign Serie A star ahead of West Ham - Evening Standard
According to the Evening Standard, both Newcastle and West Ham are interested in signing Bologna star Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The 21-year-old is considered to be one of Japan's brightest talents and has impressed during his first season in Serie A.
He's played 18 times for his country and is a two-footed right back who's also capable of playing as a central defender, holding midfielder or left-back.
Tomiyasu, who stands 6ft 2' tall, completed a move to Bologna just last summer, leaving Belgian side Sint-Truiden in a deal worth around £6m.
Given his versatility and potential, he could fit the bill for Steve Bruce and work within the club's buying policy - although it could be argued we need more of and out and out left-back than someone who's made a name for himself down the right-hand side.
