NUFC suffer new injury in 5-1 defeat at Middlesbrough as 8 players miss training on Thursday

by Olly Hawkins ·

With Martin Dubravka and Dwight Gayle picking up '2-3 month' injuries over pre-season already, the last thing we need is another player sidelined ahead of the new season.

While there's been no confirmation on the extent, The Mail's Craig Hope reports that Paul Dummett limped off in Tuesday's 5-1 defeat at Middlesbrough shortly after coming on in the 60th minute.

Hope also stated that the 'couple of fresh knocks' picked up in the game may have something to do with the club's decision to cancel Monday's rematch with Boro at our Benton training base.

It's also feared Ciaran Clark was one of the others who picked up a 'knock' in the thrashing on Tuesday, with it worth noting that both he and Paul Dummett were not present in any of the clubs 48 training photos released on Thursday afternoon.

Others who missed training are injured duo Martin Dubravka and Dwight Gayle, while Jeff Hendrick - who started against Bulgaria for the Republic of Ireland on Thursday night - and Emil Krafth were both missing for international duty.

Elsewhere, Joelinton and Muto returned to training on Thursday and Fabian Schar was spotted doing light work after a shoulder operation, but forgotten duo Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar remain nowhere to be seem, with both appearing to have been told to stay away and find new clubs.

Let's hope Dummett's withdrawal was purely precautionary and that Clark is OK too. After all, they're just about our only two options at left-back as things stand!
