Sky Sports share update on Matt Ritchie's future after 'swap deal' with Bournemouth fails
According to Sky Sports, Bournemouth 'remain interested' in re-signing Matt Ritchie this summer - despite him failing to be part of our successful bid for Callum Wilson.
The 30-year-old was heavily linked with a return to the South Coast last week, with widespread reports claiming we'd use the winger as bait in our bid to sign Callum Wilson from Bournemouth.
A part-exchange was said to have been worked on between the two clubs, but we've ended up agreeing a straight £20m deal for Wilson instead.
That said, it seems the Cherries are still eager to bring him back to the Vitality - although Sky Sports believe his wage demands are thought to be an issue.
Ritchie signed a new deal at St James' Park earlier this year - extending his current contract until 20203 - and received a pay rise as a result to take his wages beyond £50,000, according to Lee Ryder.
He may be a top target of Jason Tindall's (the new Bournemouth boss) and be eager to live closer to family down South, but money talks and he'll still demand a decent fee.
