Newcastle set to miss out on another loan target as Crystal Palace make £19m bid - Sky Sports

Steve Bruce is still yearning for another striker this transfer window - but it appears he may now miss out on what was believed to be a top loan target of his.

Multiple sources have confirmed that Crystal Palace have submitted a £19 million bid for Rhian Brewster to Liverpool - with an additional £6 million in add-ons and an option for the Reds to buy-back for £37m.

Our interest in the England U-21 international has lingered all summer, with Sky Sports stating last month that we had “made an enquiry to see what Liverpool's plans were for the 20-year-old”.

But, it was also understood that we were eyeing a loan deal and not a permanent one, so Crystal Palace have surely dashed any hopes we had of landing the 20-year-old on loan this summer now he looks set to leave for big money instead.

The bid is yet to be accepted but Sky Sports previously confirmed that Liverpool were open to permanent offers that included a buy-back option - something that Crystal Palace have also included in their somewhat gargantuan bid.

Like our unsuccessful pursuit of Rob Holding at centre-back, it seems Steve Bruce will now have to pursue other avenues if he wants to bring another forward in before the deadline closes.
