Long-serving club medics Michael Harding and Wayne Farrage have been stood down impending an internal investigation, according to the Daily Mail.
Craig Hope's 'exclusive' does not explain why they have been told not to come to work but reveals that they have not been seen at the training ground for the past week - something that's left several members of the first-team squad 'shocked' by their sudden disappearance.
First-team physio Harding and soft tissue therapist Wayne Farrage are thought to be popular with the playing staff and have 23 years experience at the club between them, joining in 2006 and 2011 respectively.
That said, the article admits that neither are expected to get their jobs back. A result of COVID cut-backs or a brutal decision by the club after a worrying rise in soft tissue injuries under Steve Bruce?
The Mail also reveal that there have been confirmed cases of coronavirus among our academy set-up.
These reported cases have led to first-team and academy being instructed to train separately, with a strict separation of players and staff to suppress a potential outbreak.
Mini outbreaks have already begun to occur in the top flight with David Moyes and a few West Ham players testing positive the past week.
The last thing we need is to follow suit and have half our squad out of action with COVID-19 while the season is still in its infancy.
