Things go from bad to worse for NUFC flop as he's axed & set for January exit - Bullet dodged?
Nabil Bentaleb’s career has gone from bad to worse after he was told to train by himself at Schalke.
The 26-year old failed to do anything of note in his short loan stint on Tyneside and moved back to his parent club at the end of last season. We had the option to sign him for £8.5m, but the Newcastle board chose not to sanction the deal after a string of unconvincing performances.
Now Bentaleb, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been told to train alone at Schalke for the second time in 12 months.
The Bundesliga side currently sit rock bottom of the Bundesliga and look set to cash in on the former NUFC loanee, with a January exit looking seeming imminent...if there's any takers before he's available on a free next summer.
Whatever our fans say about the uninspiring addition of Jeff Hendrick, signing the versatile former Burnley man on a free will prove to be a better bit of business than if we had bought Bentaleb - a luxury player who would've cost much more both in fee and wages, with him said to be demanding £80,000 per week for the latter.
Despite flashes of quality, the Algerian international has now been lacklustre at Spurs, Schalke and Newcastle. To put that into perspective - that’s every club he’s ever played for!
A bullet has definitely been dodged with this one.
