NUFC star announces return to training after overcoming COVID - 2 down, 6 to go ahead of Leeds?
Federico Fernandez has confirmed that he was one of the Newcastle United players to be struck down with Covid-19 over the past fortnight.
This comes via the Argentine's Instagram page, with him stating on social media that he's now back in training after making a full recovery from the virus over the weekend.
He was one of several to miss out altogether on Saturday, meaning Isaac Hayden - another player who's recently recovered from Covid - was forced to slot in at centre-back in our 2-1 win over West Brom.
Here's his positive Sunday afternoon update:
Although Hayden did brilliantly against the Baggies alongside the reliable Clark, it will be a welcome boost to have our most consistent defender fit for Wednesday's trip to Leeds.
Elsewhere, it's worth noting that the likes of Saint-Maximin, Lascelles, Schar, Manquillo, Fraser and Gillespie also missed out on Saturday.
Although this doesn't mean all of the above had Covid - with a few having injuries before the outbreak - it will be interesting to see if they too return to training over the coming days.
