Ex-NUFC striker keen to return...and club could yet sign him on a cut-price fee - Report
The Chronicle are reporting that former Toon youngster Adam Armstrong would be keen on a return to Tyneside this summer.
Reports over the last few days have suggested that West Ham have been lining up a move for the striker, who is currently the second top scorer in the Championship on 17 goals.
That said, it's believed we placed a whopping 40% sell-on clause in the forward’s contract, meaning we would benefit from any sale no matter which club he signed for!
The Sun's Alan Nixon recently suggested Blackburn could reluctantly sell for little over £10m, which seems alarmingly cheap considering he is their star player, a proven goalscorer, and still only 24-years old.
Ollie Watkins’ signature fetched a fee of around £28million from the second tier last summer, so don’t be surprised if Blackburn hold out for a much bigger fee than is being suggested - especially considering the release clause that is etched into his contract.
However this situation plays out, it looks as though we will benefit one way or another, with us set to get 40% off the asking price IF we do end up pursuing a move for our Academy graduate.
