"He looks like he doesn't want to be here" - Journalist fears NUFC star regrets signing for Steve Bruce

Lee Ryder believes that Ryan Fraser doesn’t look like he wants to play for Newcastle United.

The Scotsman has had a stop-start debut season on Tyneside, struggling to cement a regular place while picking up several niggling injuries.

Now, speaking on The Chronicle’s Everything is Black and White podcast, Lee Ryder has questioned Fraser's attitude and body language of late, believing he looks like a man who's "made a mistake" signing for Steve Bruce's NUFC.

Here's what he had to say about the winger:

"Fraser for me doesn't look like he wants to be here.

"You're asking me an honest question and I'm giving you my opinion from what I am seeing - he doesn't look like he wants to be here.

"It looks to me like he feels he's made a mistake coming to Newcastle.

"We are not seeing the Ryan Fraser which we saw at Bournemouth, and we know with him it could be a situation where if he's not happy, he's not performing and that is what it looks like at the minute."

After an electric start, scoring on his debut against Blackburn, Fraser has fizzled out and failed to showcase what he's capable of - so far.

To be fair to him, he has been denied a decent run in the team since arriving and has come to a club that is going through a time of struggle.

We know from his time at Bournemouth that he is capable of downing tools but I think it may be slightly premature for Ryder to suggest anything untoward here - unless he really is frustrated by Bruce bemoaning when he's injured than failing to give him a run of starts when fit!
