Arsenal's plan for Joe Willock revealed in new report as NUFC look set for uncertain summer

by Olly Hawkins ·

The Chronicle are reporting that Newcastle may have to wait until the closing stages of the window once again to sign Joe Willock this summer.

Mark Douglas claims that Mikel Arteta looks set to take a close look at the 21-year-old over pre-season, meaning any return to St James' Park could come late in the day should they decide to let him go in the end.

A last-ditch loan move was confirmed with just hours to go in the January window and he's not looked back since, scoring five in just eight starts to give us that box-to-box option we'd so often lacked under Steve Bruce.

Should Arsenal feel that Willock will benefit more from another spell out on loan, then we should be first priority given how well he has settled into life on Tyneside.

A permanent deal is what we're all hoping for, however his impressive rise to form and likely price tag may mean another loan is the most likely route - unless Arsenal opt to cash in now they're set to miss out on European football!

The same report claims Steve Bruce is currently preparing for the summer window as though Mike Ashley will still be in charge at NUFC, with Willock one of a few targets “nibbling” away in the background.
