Newcastle United’s media team have released a self-nominated goal of the season competition, asking supporters to choose their favourite strike from the 2020/21 campaign.

The nine to choose from includes Allan Saint-Maximin’s two wonder strokes against Burnley (one at home, one away) and Jonjo Shelvey’s pearler in our FA Cup clash with Newport County.

Other honourable mentions on the list include Dwight Gayle’s bullet header against West Brom and our wonderful team goal against Leicester, which was completed by Callum Wilson.

Two surprising omissions are Wilson’s last-minute clincher against Everton and Joe Willock’s final day solo effort against Fulham.

If I had to pick my favourite, it would be Saint-Maxmin’s goal against Burnley at Turf Moor, a strike that set us on our way for a decent end to the season and showed exactly why he is regarded as our star player!
