Club statement confirms FIVE Newcastle United players have signed new deals - Official

by Olly Hawkins ·

Newcastle United have FINALLY offered an official update on the contract front, announcing new deals for FIVE first-team players.

In a club statement released on Wednesday afternoon, Newcastle have confirmed that Jacob Murphy, Federico Fernandez and Dwight Gayle have all put pen to paper over new deals.

Elsewhere, NUFC announce that we have also triggered options to extend the contracts of Paul Dummett and Fabian Schar - keeping both tied down for at least another season.

One player whose future remains a mystery is Andy Carroll, with no retained list released - yet nothing to suggest the striker has signed a new deal at St James' Park.

Here's what the club have posted on Twitter in the last few moments, followed by the official statement released on nufc.co.uk:

Newcastle United has confirmed that Jacob Murphy, Federico Fernández and Dwight Gayle have all signed new contracts with the club.

The club has also exercised the option of extending the contracts of defenders Paul Dummett and Fabian Schär into the 2021/22 season.

Murphy, Fernández, Gayle and Dummett have all reported back for pre-season training this week, while Schär will return to Tyneside later this month after helping Switzerland to the quarter-final stage of this summer's European Championships.

Good to see the club finally offer an update on the contract front, even if we may be handing new deals to the likes of Schar and Gayle just so we can get fees for both this summer!

As for Fernandez, Murphy and Dummett, all three have barely let us down over the past season, with it particularly good news to see our most improved player in Jacob Murphy commit to the club.
