Steve Bruce edging closer to exit with out of work manager keen to take his job - Report

According to fresh reports emerging from Italy, AC Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso is eyeing Steve Bruce's job at Newcastle United.

This comes from Calciomercato, who claim that the former Napoli boss is on 'pre-alert' as it's expected the current NUFC boss will lose his job soon.

The report states that Steve Bruce's exit is 'around the corner', having started the new season with no wins in the league and an early cup exit.

A real pinch of salt is needed with this one, however this isn't the first time Gattuso has been linked with a move to St James' Park.

The fiery 43-year-old left his role at Napoli at the end of the 2020/21 season and almost took over at Fiorentina over the summer, only for talks to break down at the 11th hour.

He was also strongly linked with the Tottenham job back in July, however they ended up going for Nuno Esparito Santo - leaving the Italian out of work and looking for his next move a few months on.
