Player with same agent as four NUFC stars emerging as January option for Eddie Howe - Report

The Chronicle claim that Steve Cook could become a January option for Eddie Howe - his former centre-back who served him so well at Bournemouth.

The 30-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of the season and he has been struggling for game time so far this season, making just two Championship appearances.

He spent almost a decade playing for Howe with the Cherries so our new manager knows his capabilities, with our defensive reinforcements one of our top priorities heading into the January window.

The piece also reports that Cook has the same agent as Dwight Gayle, Jamaal Lascelles, Isaac Hayden and Callum Wilson, which may make the deal easier to get over the line.

My concern, however, is if he isn’t getting a game in the Championship with Bournemouth… is he really the answer to solve our defensive problems and keep us in the Premier League?

He's not really a ball player, lacks pace and is entering the twilight years of his career - an issue we have with several of our current options at centre-back.

With the money available to us now new owners arrive, Howe would be wise to steer clear of this one..
