Familiar name now 'in the frame' to be appointed NUFC's new Chief Executive - Alan Nixon

It looks like Peter Kenyon could be on his way to Newcastle United.

This comes from Alan Nixon - a senior reporter at The Sun - who claims that the former Chief Executive at both Manchester United and Chelsea is now 'in the frame' to land a similar role at St James' Park.

The 68-year-old hasn't been in such a role for over a decade now, with him leaving Stamford Bridge back in 2009.

That said, his links to Newcastle United have existed for a few years now, as he was first linked with a takeover bid on Tyneside in 2018.

He was heading a consortium bidding to buy the club from Mike Ashley between 2018 and 2019, however any attempt to complete a deal collapsed, with some reporting that the experienced CEO failed to show proof of funds.

Now, it seems he may finally be involved in the new era at St James' Park over three years on from his surprise takeover bid.

It's said he could also be joined by Brighton's Dean Ashworth, with Alan Nixon insisting that he'll take a separate role at the club if he does end up leaving the Seagulls.
