Howe reveals the exact type of player he wants to sign for Newcastle United this summer
Eddie Howe has revealed that he wants unselfish and hardworking players to sign for the club this summer, believing Bruno Guimaraes' character will be a blueprint we look to follow.
The Brazilian international had to wait to get his chance in the starting line-up - he wasn't in the first 11 until March 10th - but has shown real patience and duly delivered with three goals and a host of outstanding display when given his opportunity in the team.
Howe will be looking for similar characters to the ones he brought in January - all five of Burn, Targett, Bruno, Trippier and Wood have clearly had a positive impact in the dressing room and given the squad a huge morale boost.
Speaking ahead of the summer window, Howe said:
“It is so important you get good people in your dressing room.
"Bruno Guimaraes is typical of what we want.
"He is not selfish. He thinks of the team. His weekend will be judged on the team winning or losing.
"We need to bring players in of a similar mindset who think of the club first and individual second.
"It is the most difficult part of the recruitment process.”
With so many players now aware of our financial situation, it will be even more of a challenge to find those who are willing to fight for the club and who will play for the fans not for their pay cheque.
