£30m release clauses made public in the event of relegation - Two deals of interest for NUFC?
As reported by the Daily Mail, relegation release clauses could see Raphinha, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford leave for just £30million this summer should Leeds United go down.
The Yorkshire club are bang in trouble and in serious danger of going down, with their 2-1 defeat at Arsenal followed by a big win at Leicester for Everton - results which leave Leeds third bottom on 34 points.
Relegation could therefore work very much in Newcastle's favour, with the likes of Phillips and Raphinha playing in positions many would argue we need big improvements in.
We've actually been credited with an interest in Phillips in recent months, while Raphinha would be a dream signing as we look to add more goals down our right wing.
With a mass exodus expected on Tyneside and first-team investment needed in a few key areas, upgrading the likes of Jacob Murphy and Isaac Hayden with the two Premier League stars would be certain to go down well with supporters.
However, as the price in the clause is so low, it is very likely that there will be stiff competition for the pair of internationals and it will no doubt rise higher than the original £30million.
