“There’s a few noises” - Keith Downie issues update on Matt Targett’s NUFC future
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Sky Sport's North East reporter Keith Downie has played down the chances of Newcastle signing on-loan full back Matt Targett permanently from Aston Villa.
The defender joined the club in January and has been ever-present in the squad, making 14 appearances since his arrival, with manager Eddie Howe said to have been keen on making the move permanent.
We have previously bene quoted for a fee of around £15million - a steal for a Premier League proven defender in today's market.
However, Downie has since revealed 'it might not happen' due to 'a few noises that raise a couple of question marks.'
There are also multiple Premier League clubs such as Leicester, Leeds and Wolves interested in the 26-year-old's talents, but according to 90min, a move to Tyneside is still the 'favourable' option.

“There’s a few noises around the Targett thing that make me think it might not happen, unless there’s a very clever game being played, there’s a few noises that raise a couple of question marks to whether that one is going to happen or not.”
