Player ‘keen’ on securing summer move to Newcastle United after talks in Northumberland - Report

According to The Chronicle's Charlie Bennett, Newcastle are now "close" to a deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson after talks were held between club representatives in Northumberland.

The 25-year-old is apparently "keen" on the move and would prefer a permanent transfer to a loan deal after he was repeatedly let down by his club due to broken promises over first team football.

A deal has been on the cards for some time now, with Newcastle and Eddie Howe playing down the rumours, although Manchester Evening News had previously reported that it was "99% done."

It seems that the Englishman is being lined up as the number one replacement for Martin Dubravka and one of our first - hopefully of many - signings of the summer.

During a World Cup year, the shot-stopper will be eager to show off his talents and work his way back into that England squad which he made his only appearance for back in November 2020.

Moving forward, the club was in desperate need of new keeper and at 25 years of age, Henderson could well be part of the long-term project.
