Jamaal Lascelles now receiving interest from Premier League club - The Athletic
According to The Athletic, newly promoted Nottingham Forest are eyeing a summer move for Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles.
It's claimed that Steve Cooper's side are 'among a clutch of clubs' taking a close look at the 28-year-old, who could leave Newcastle United this summer after slipping down the pecking order since Dan Burn's arrival and Fabian Schar's upturn in form.
Lascelles arrived from Forest back in 2014 alongside Karl Darlow, with the pair signing for a combined £7m, so a return to the City Ground could be quite apt now the Midlands side are back in the top flight for the first time in 23 years.
The Athletic also state that this could be "an attractive prospect for all parties" should Forest offer the sort of fee we'd demand for the defender.
Born in Uttoxeter and brought up in the Forest ranks as a teenager, Lascelles is no stranger to that neck of the woods and may feel it's the right time to return home if he's no longer guaranteed regular game time on Tyneside.
Howe has spoken highly of him, but his limitations on the ball could be an issue moving forward, not to mention the fact he's another player who is approaching his 30s and likely to want game time at this stage of his career.
