Newcastle eyeing new sponsor and sleeve deal 'close' after early release from FUN88 - Report
According to Mark Douglas at i news, Newcastle have negotiated an early exit from a "long-term deal" with FUN88 - making this their last season as the club's official shirt sponsors.
Earlier today, the club have announced their new home strip which features the FUN88 logo, however the club are now on the lookout for a more ‘lucrative' alternative, knowing a new sponsor will be needed in time for the 2023/24 campaign.
Following the decision by the Premier League to ban related-party sponsorships - companies run by the same owners as the club - Newcastle are hopeful the club’s potential will ‘ensure a big uplift’ in their search for a new deal.
Due to Financial Fair Play, revenue from sponsorship deals will be crucially important to our future spending in transfer windows - the owners have identified this as a key area for growth - and will allow us to make bigger and better deals moving forwards.
Possible restrictions on gambling sponsorship at the front of football shirts may have also played a part in the club's decision to strike an early exit, as such proposals from the Government suggested that the likes of FUN88 were living on borrowed time.
The same report also states that we are 'close' to finalising a deal to have the Botswana tourist board on our sleeve for this season, with a search for a new main sponsor, after five years of FUN88, expected to follow in due course.
