Newcastle ‘want to sign’ Belgian international - Player available for €15m - Report

by Andrew Reynolds ·

According to German outlet BILD, Newcastle United 'want to sign' Borussia Dortmund winger Thorgan Hazard this summer.

With the 29-year-old no longer a regular part of their first team, it's believed the German club are willing to let the player leave for 'around €15m' - a relatively small fee that could enable us to spend big elsewhere.

Last season, the Belgian international made 29 league appearances in all competition - only 14 of those were starts - bagging five goals and one assist as Dortmund finished runners up to Bayern Munich once again.

He is believed to be one of the highest earners at the club - which may explain why they're willing to sell at a reasonable price - with BILD reporting that he earns around €7million per year.

As a versatile winger who has also operated at wing-back, the Belgian could add strength in depth but may not be a suitable long-term option due to his age and injury record, which has ruled him out of 25 league games in the last two years.
