The Alexander Isak admission that could boost NUFC's pursuit of the Real Sociedad striker

Alexander Isak has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League, giving Newcastle United an early advantage in our bid to sign the Swedish striker.

While insisting that he was "in a good place" at Real Sociedad last season, the 22-year-old revealed in a recent interview that it "would be nice to play in England" one day.

He described the Premier League as the "highest level possible", suggesting he could be receptive to Newcastle's interest after The Telegraph announced yesterday that we were in talks over a potential club-record bid for the 6ft 4' striker.

The former Borussia Dortmund talent endured a mixed 2021/22 season, scoring 10 goals in all competitions, but 43 strikes over three years in Spain is not to be sniffed at for a player of his age and undoubted potential.

Speaking about his future last season, here's what the big man had to say, hinting at a future move to England and explaining why La Liga has aided his development:

“I am in a good place at the moment, I am very happy, but one day it would be nice to play in England,”

“They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s a very high level, and of course, one day it could be an alternative.

“Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level.

"People will always count the goals a striker scorers, and I always want to score, but I want to be a modern striker.

"I love playing football and that means being involved as much as possible. I think that’s why Spain has suited me very well.”
