Newcastle 3-0 1860 Munich: Bruno shines and new boys make debut out in Austria

Newcastle followed up last weekend's 5-1 win over Gateshead with a convincing victory over 1860 Munich on Friday afternoon.

After a scrappy opening 45 minutes, second half goals from Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimaraes handed us a 3-0 win over the Germans.

Eddie Howe handed Nick Pope his first Newcastle United start, while Sven Botman also showed glimpses of real quality and composure on the ball during his second half cameo.

Elliot Anderson featured for the opening 60 minutes before Howe made 10 changes and was unlucky not to bag himself an assist, showing glimpses of quality once again.

Jonjo Shelvey played a key role in Willock's opener, cutting the ball back nicely, while Bruno Guimaraes had a hand in two goals, setting up Longstaff for his superbly hit second and getting on the scoresheet himself after some unselfish work from Chris Wood.

In truth, the first 45 was a scrappy and disjointed affair typical of a pre-season friendly featuring two sides blowing off the cobwebs, but we stepped things up a gear in the second half and cut through the Germans with ease at times.

Second half XI from 60 minutes onwards: Dubravka - Trippier, Schar, Botman, Dummett - Joelinton, Bruno, S Longstaff - Almiron, Wood Fraser.
