Newcastle suffer another transfer blow as player prefers to join West Ham - The Athletic
It looks like Armando Broja won’t be arriving at St James’ Park this summer.
It had been suggested over the weekend that the 20-year-old was closing in on a loan move to West Ham, and The Athletic have now issued an update of their own on the in-demand striker.
They report that, despite interest from Newcastle United, the player favours a move to West Ham, leaving Eddie Howe to consider alternatives once again.
Broja is a London-born Albanian who has spent the majority of his youth in the capital - which may explain why he’d prefer to spend the coming season closer to home with the Hammers, opposed to heading North for a year on Tyneside?
With long-term target Hugo Ekitike joining PSG over the weekend and deals for Moussa Diaby and Alexander Isak proving too expensive, it would be another mini-blow to miss out on Broja - especially if it’s a loan deal that could’ve free’d up funds to spend big on a right winger.
The player believed to be on his way back from Chelsea’s tour of the US, so we can expect more to emerge soon on his future.
