Howe sends new transfer message to Newcastle fans during Sky Sports interview - Video

During an interview with Sky Sports, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has reassured fans he will ‘bring in the right players’ in due time rather than rushing to sign someone and end up ‘making big mistakes’.

Since the signing of Sven Botman was confirmed a few weeks ago, there has been very little action on the transfer front with numerous players being labelled as too expensive. 

Some supporters on social media have voiced their concern, with it well documented that we were aiming to bring in a striker and right-winger before our opening day clash with Nottingham Forest two weeks on Saturday.

But the 44-year-old was quick to put our minds at ease and encourage us to ‘show patience’ and trust the club to make the right decisions, as they have so far with the likes of Nick Pope and Sven Botman. 

Speaking to Sky Sports after our 1-0 defeat to Mainz, here's what he had to say on the transfer front:

"For me it's always about the right player, not just any player. You can make big mistakes if you don't show patience at times. You have to. 

"We're trying to bring in the right players that hopefully make a difference to the team. Hopefully, we will get those calls right."

After spending £150million on proven quality players in just one and a half windows, it’s fair to say the club have got it pretty much spot on so far, and, as Howe says, we need to show some patience and trust those at the top to deliver once again.
