Meeting with NUFC officials confirmed as club are quoted £45m for exciting striker - Report
According to Mark Douglas at iNews, Newcastle have been told to pay £45m if they wish to sign RB Salzburg star Benjamin Sesko - nicknamed the ‘next Erling Haaland’ for his unique blend of size and speed.
The same report also confirms that the player's representatives met with Newcastle officials over the past fortnight, suggesting his agent's appearance on Tyneside last month was no coincidence!
That said, it seems we will face stiff competition for the highly rated striker as both Chelsea and Manchester United have also held talks over a move for the 19-year-old.
A source from Salzburg told i: “Salzburg need Sesko for the Champions League, they’re not encouraging a sale. But that’s a different thing from the player not being for sale, and they’d listen to offers.”
Since signing for Salzburg, the 6ft 4' man has bagged 12 goals and eight assists in 30 starts and recently shone in a pre-season friendly with Liverpool, scoring once and causing havoc throughout.
As a tall, mobile forward who looks to be an ice-cool finisher, Sesko could fit perfectly into Newcastle's exciting plans for the future but, as always, the high price may prove problematic.
