New name under consideration at NUFC as Toon eye move for 6ft 7' Bundesliga striker - Report

by Andrew Reynolds ·

As reported by The Mail, Newcastle are ‘considering’ making a move for VfB Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic should our attempts to sign Joao Pedro from Watford fall flat.

The forward, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United all summer, would arrive with an impressive record of 22 goals and 11 assists in 50 Bundesliga games despite his side narrowly avoiding relegation last year.

Standing at 6ft 7’, Kalajdzic would certainly add an aerial threat to our squad, along with Dan Burn (6ft 6’) and Sven Botman (6ft 4’), and with set-pieces and crosses coming in from Kieran Trippier, it could be a formula to success.

Similar to Burn, Sasa is a lot quicker than what his height suggests as well as being technically proficient and very comfortable dropping in between the lines and laying balls off to midfield runners - in the past, he has also even been an attacking midfielder.

The 25-year-old, who made his debut for the Austrian national team in 2020, also has no issues in playing in a high press and could be a very useful asset for an Eddie Howe team.
